OK, I have 2 specialities in BF2142, those are Knifing (Duh) and Sniping. I'm best at sniping than knifing though.
Here's how I play, I tend to warn you all that this killing method is the one best suited for me, and that it may not seem reasonable or somewhat un-useful to use to your eyes, but feel free to comment about it, critiques and high fives welcomed, I'm always opened for learning.
First off, let's consider you're in a normal anything-goes server, 48 man.
You have two choices,
1) Zeller-H advanced sniper rifle
2) Park or Morretti
I personnally would go for the Zeller, since it holds alot more fire power, if a unit is already damaged, you have a much better chance of taking it down, but if I'd go for speed and longlasting periods, I'd take the Park or Morretti.
As a squad member--
First off, NEVER take the lead, ALWAYS stay behind your group, ready to scope and fire. As soon as your group means to cross a dangerous territory such as : a road in Belgrade, a plain in Verdun or a wall in Camp Gibaltar. STAND BEHIND, find a good, high elevated position to lay, and snipe down any enemy unit that shows up. THAT would be a team sniper.
As a lone wolf--
NEVER camp, always be on the move, but always be hidden, that Camo system unlock is not just for decoration, it's meant to help you infiltrate, BUT ALSO to escape enemy lines. It basicly is the same as a team player, but without the squad parts.
HOW TO KILL--
A soldier is randomly running under your sight, what do you do?
1- you look at him, then you scope, by doing so, you won't have to search him with your scope on...
2- Where is he heading? Running in circles? away from you? To your right/left? Towards you but to stupid to see you?
a) if he's coming towards you, aim for the head for an easy kill, aim for the chest for him to see you and rape you with his VOSS-LAR.
b) If he's going away from you, Aim for the head for an easy kill, aim for the back for him to start running in circles looking for am exit.
c) If he's going left/right from you...Well, that's a different case, the hardest one in my book.... Don't try getting your scope on him, wait for him to get on you scope, much easier ey? Simply ajust your scope to his head's level, and wait, stabilise, and shoot as soon as it pops inside the crosshair. If you miss, he could start running looking for an escape route or start shooting at you...
That's how to kill an innocent victim...
HOW to kill in combat situations
If you find yourself covered behind a box, and some idiot VOSS-LAR guuner is shooting for you, crouch (dont prone) behind the crate, take your grenade out, toss it, take your camo and run to another spot, THE END.
The tip here above means: you can't win against a VOSS-LAR in Med range combat, excuse me, YOU CAN, but according to me, the risk is too great to waiste your time, and plus, who the hell said grenades weren't allowed for snipers? AND, if the VOSS dude decides to PK-R your ass, you're dead meat...so yeah...
If a gunner has spoted you, it is most likely that he'll try and get near you to kill you, that i if he doesn't have a long range weapon, and thus, it's always a good thing to have some APMs ready for them, but that depends on what kit you have, if you wanna camp-snipe, then why have Camo? take APMs...
--------------Sniper-To-Sniper combat----------------
That's the coolest type of confrontation if ever been through.
1) If he knows where you are, and you don't know where HE is...Think for a minute, where could he be? The bullet came from THAT side, I heard RDX earlier near there....HE RDX JUMPED ON THE FREAKIN TOWER, WOW, I'M SO SMART! Zoom your scope, ajust it to the highest zoom, and pop out the door way, very quikly as you scope to try and see him, you must be very fast at it or else Mitchell could own ou with a headshot. When you've spotted him, do this:
1- Pop out, clearly for him to see you, move randomly in and out of you hiding spot
2- AS SOON AS HE SHOOTS AND MISSED (according to plan anyways...) POP OUT SCOPE AND SHOOT HIM IN THE HEAD.
Also, if you see a camping sniper, unaware that your about to kill him, TAKE YOUR TIME, GOD, DON'T SHOOT HIM IN THE ARM OR LEG, AIM FOR THE FREAKIN HEAD!
----------------Silent stare-----------------
The silent stare, that's how I call the moment when two snipers simultaniously scope at eachothers heads. It always feels like an eternity before one of them shoots, and the results are always so funny,
result 1- You die.
result 2- He dies.
result 3- You both die.
result 4- you both miss like freakin noobs.
